A Pol\u00edcia Federal, na manh\u00e3 desta quinta-feira (23\/10), deflagrou a opera\u00e7\u00e3o Sapajus III, com o objetivo de cumprir tr\u00eas mandados judiciais, expedidos pela 2\u00aa Vara Federal da Se\u00e7\u00e3o Judici\u00e1ria da Bahia. A opera\u00e7\u00e3o decorre de uma investiga\u00e7\u00e3o sobre tr\u00e1fico interestadual de animais silvestres.<\/p>\n

As investiga\u00e7\u00f5es tiveram in\u00edcio ap\u00f3s a descoberta de que um animal silvestre do g\u00eanero Sapajus (macaco-prego) estava sendo mantido em uma resid\u00eancia no munic\u00edpio de Cama\u00e7ari, mediante utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de documenta\u00e7\u00e3o falsa.<\/p>\n

No decorrer da apura\u00e7\u00e3o, a Pol\u00edcia Federal constatou que o animal \u00e9 procedente do Rio de Janeiro\/RJ, tendo sido comercializado e transportado para a Bahia de forma fraudulenta. Al\u00e9m disso, verificou-se que outros animais j\u00e1 haviam sido comercializados pelos investigados com documentos falsos, tendo sido adquiridos por jogadores de futebol e artistas.<\/p>\n

Na a\u00e7\u00e3o de hoje, equipes da Pol\u00edcia Federal cumpriram mandados de busca e apreens\u00e3o em endere\u00e7os situados no Rio de Janeiro\/RJ e em Nil\u00f3polis\/RJ, vinculados aos envolvidos na comercializa\u00e7\u00e3o dos animais.<\/p>\n

O tr\u00e1fico de animais silvestres causa preju\u00edzos significativos \u00e0 fauna brasileira, gerando desequil\u00edbrios ambientais graves, inclusive em ecossistemas protegidos, al\u00e9m de colocar esp\u00e9cies em risco de extin\u00e7\u00e3o. Por esta raz\u00e3o, a cria\u00e7\u00e3o de animais silvestres \u00e9 permitida apenas quando adquiridos de criadouros comerciais devidamente registrados no IBAMA, com Cadastro T\u00e9cnico Federal (CTF) e autoriza\u00e7\u00e3o no Sistema Nacional de Gest\u00e3o de Fauna (SisFauna).<\/p>\n

Os investigados dever\u00e3o responder pelos crimes de tr\u00e1fico de animais silvestres, forma\u00e7\u00e3o de associa\u00e7\u00e3o criminosa e falsifica\u00e7\u00e3o de documento p\u00fablico. As penas pelos crimes, somadas, podem alcan\u00e7ar at\u00e9 14 anos de reclus\u00e3o.<\/p>\n
