Natural de Brumado, Newton Cardoso, ex-governador de Minas Gerais, faleceu aos 86 anos na madrugada deste domingo (2). De acordo com informa\u00e7\u00f5es do site Achei Sudoeste, parceiro do Acorda Cidade, a not\u00edcia foi anunciada pelo deputado federal Newton Cardoso J\u00fanior (MDB-MG), filho do ex-governador, que estava internado desde a \u00faltima sexta-feira (31).<\/p>\n

Newton Cardoso dedicou sua vida \u00e0 pol\u00edtica e ao povo mineiro. Ele teve uma trajet\u00f3ria pol\u00edtica marcante, servindo como vice-governador de Minas Gerais, deputado federal por tr\u00eas mandatos e prefeito de Contagem (MG) em tr\u00eas ocasi\u00f5es. Al\u00e9m de pol\u00edtico, Newton Cardoso era advogado, administrador e empres\u00e1rio, tendo atuado em diversos setores. Seu trabalho contribuiu significativamente para a gera\u00e7\u00e3o de empregos e para o desenvolvimento econ\u00f4mico de Minas Gerais e de sua terra natal, Brumado.<\/p>\n

\u201cDeixa um legado de grandes obras e realiza\u00e7\u00f5es em cada canto de Minas, legado este que jamais ser\u00e1 esquecido. Seguirei adiante, profundamente saudoso, mas com muito orgulho e honradez\u201d, declarou Newton Cardoso J\u00fanior em homenagem ao pai.<\/p>\n
